MELFLOCK® - Alzchem supplies reliable products for a sustainable paper industry
2021 was a successful year for the paper industry, and the forecasts for 2022 are also promising: the demand for various types of packaging products made from renewable raw materials - especially paper bags, food boxes and outer packaging - has increased enormously worldwide. This is mainly based on the upswing in online retailing, as well as in part by the continuing strong trend toward food "to go."
Paper is basically always produced in the same way: Pulp, obtained from wood, waste paper or fast-growing plants, is mixed with water, defibered and spread over fine screens. Among other things, the choice of starting material, density and layer thickness during processing, as well as various types of post-treatment, result in papers with a wide variety of properties.
Dicyandiamide condensates, the MELFLOCK® products from Alzchem, are strongly cationic microflocculation and fixing agents. Their advantage lies in their independence from the ph value. This means that the cationic charge is available even at ph values above 7. Our condensates are used as process chemicals in the paper industry, e.g. as creping aids, for contaminant treatment in AKD sizing (modern and paper-friendly process for currently used synthetic sizing) and for reducing the chemical oxygen demand (COD value).
